How much will it cost to mail my invitations?

As of January 2014, standard postage for our 5x7” and #10 size invitations, including reply card and envelope, is $0.66.  Square invitations, because of their non-standard size, require postage in the amount of $0.86. Due to rather arbitrary rules regarding letter rigidity from the US Post Office, we would recommend using $0.86 postage for all invitations, especially if you have several enclosures.


What size are your invitations?

The majority of our invitations are 5x7”, and fit into an A7 size envelope. Our Overlook collection is “tea-length” and fits into a standard #10 business envelope. Our square invitations are 6.25” on all sides and fit into 6.5” square envelopes. All of our reply cards are 3.5x5” and fit into 4bar size envelopes. Other sizes are available to you, simply ask us for different options.


Do you ship outside of the United States?

We are happy to ship to foreign countries, but ask that you take responsibility for any duties or tax associated with your order. Please contact us for shipping rates, and add an additional week for turnaround time.


Can you customize your designs for other events or baby announcements?

We would be thrilled to help you with any of the above. Contact us with information about your event, and we’ll be happy to customize any of our existing designs for you, or create something entirely new!


I already have a design for my wedding invitation that I would love to use. Could you do the printing for me?

Of course! Our sister company, Shed Letterpress, specializes in commercial printing for a large variety of clients. Please visit their website, www.shedletterpress.com or email with your ideas.


Do you offer samples of your designs?

Complete samples are available for any of the designs you see listed on our website, and cost $5.00, payable by check, credit card, or paypal. Simply email us with your request and we’ll get them out to you via post.

What is your turnaround time, and do you offer rush turnaround?

You can expect to receive your invitations three weeks from final approval of digital proofs, but we are happy to provide a rush turnaround of seven business days for a 50% upcharge. We are also happy to ship via FedEx overnight at your request. Just ask!


Will I be able to see a letterpress proof of my invitation suite?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer letterpress proofs, but we are happy to provide you will three rounds of electronic PDF proofs to make sure that everything is absolutely perfect for you. If you would like to see a sample, just let us know and we’ll get one in the mail to you, and happily deduct the five dollar sample fee from your final order.


May I see samples of gift tags, menus, table numbers, or other pieces in the suite?

If we have them available, we will happily send them along for an additional fee. If not, however, rest assured that we will include them in your digital proofs once we receive your order. 


May I request a specific color swatch in a sample?

Because we hand mix each of our colors, in addition to hand cutting and printing each item in a wedding suite, it is simply not possible for us to provide a sample of each design in all of the colors we offer. We promise to work together with you to ensure that you are thrilled with your color choices, however, and ultimately thrilled with the final product.


Can you print on both sides of my invitation?

Happily—back patterns can add a lovely touch of whimsy to our designs. When referring to our price sheet, double sided prints count as a separate color run.


Which paper should I choose?

We love our standard 110lb Crane & Co. Lettra—it’s by far our most popular paper. If you are interested in edge painting or simply a thicker sheet, however, you have a couple of choices. Lettra double-thick 220lb is our heaviest sheet, and is roughly the texture and thickness of a beer coaster. Museum Board is a more economical choice, and has a smoother, buffed finish that many of our clients adore. If you would like samples of any of our papers, please contact us for free samples.


Do you offer inner and outer envelopes? Can you get them to me early so that I can send them off to the calligrapher?

We offer inner and outer envelopes for Crane & Co. Lettra papers only. Please contact us for pricing. We are happy to send early envelopes—inner, outer, or otherwise—for a 15% upcharge.


I’m concerned about addressing. What if I run out of outer envelopes?

Not to worry! We always include 10% extra envelopes with every order.


Now that we’re talking about envelopes, what about liners?

We love lined envelopes, and can custom die cut them for you out of most any paper. Or if you would like a pattern designed to perfectly match your invitations, we can do that, too. Consult our price sheet, or contact us for options. Custom designed liners are digitally printed.


I love letterpress, but am nervous about the scale of the investment. Any tips?

Paper costs can definitely add up, especially for bigger weddings! Love a two-color invitation? Print two colors on the invitation only, and use only one color for the rest of your suite. Dying to try edge painting, or a double sided sheet? Try using thicker paper for the invitation only. Two- or one-sided postcards are a more economical (and green!) choice versus standard reply cards with printed envelopes. Add reception information to the bottom of your invitation rather than using a separate reception card. Some couples have also begun to list their wedding website on the reply card in order to save time with RSVPs, travel, and accommodation information.
